Broadway a Tropea 2008

PROGRAM

Calabria Arte, cultural association of Reggio Calabria-Italy, under the direction of Basilio Foti, presents Broadway a Tropea, the International Dance Workshop, XVII edition of Calabria Artedanza with the collaboration of Michèle Assaf, New York-USA as Artist Director and promoter of the artistic event in USA by Tezoro Production, New York-USA. The International Dance Workshop, is known and appreciated in Italy, Europe and other Countries (USA, Canada, Argentina, Japan, Korea) and it is seen as a very important date for teachers, dancers and for those who have a passion for this art, who want study in depth and improve the technique the different styles of this art. This event must be understood as Study-Vacation, as it offers, further to the study (workshop, choreographic laboratory pedagogic dance courses, meetings with the teachers) and the performances (Show at the end of the Workshop and International Gala), the opportunity to meet others and to have a good time in an enchanting and friendly place.
The 2008 program includes 4 weeks, from Saturday 5th of July till Saturday 2nd of August.
Week 1 is dedicated to Children dance classes (age 7-12) and the Advanced Beginners, who have been studying for a few years, with a minimum knowledge of classical dance, and there are also classes for intermediate and advanced level.
Week 2, 3, and 4 are dedicated only to intermediate level (minimum age 13) advanced (minimum age 17) and professional dancers. During these three weeks there are also two Choreographic Workshops.

Saturday 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th of July
Arrival and registration day of all students and observers at Broadway at Tropea at the Workshop reception (at the wellness centre) from 3.00 p.m. till 9.00 p.m. At 10.30 p.m. (pools meeting place) Welcome Party and Orientation Meeting, illustration of the week’s program, introducing of the teachers, the organization staff and activities at the Villaggio La Pace.

Sunday 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th of July
Workshops, four weeks beginning on Sunday morning and ending on Friday evening . The lesson of Stretching, Pilates, Active isolated strengthening, Pedagogy and Circus acrobatics will take place from Sunday to Thursday, classes and choreographic workshop on Friday will take place at the Theater La Pace (schedule will be given on arrival day) and will last less in order to permit all levels to rehearse for the Final Performance of the students . The lessons and laboratories will take place in the two dance studios The Fitness Center Studio (lower floor of the wellness centre) on an professional dance floor in linoleum of 250 m2, and the Open Dance Studio, a tensile structure with a 300 m2, with elastic professional dance floor in linoleum, in a reserved open space area, with a beautiful panoramic view.

Week 1 , july 6th - 11th, with Michele Assaf, Jared Grimes, Patrizia Muzzupappa, Francesca Dario, Joshua Pelatzky e Terry Beeman .
Week 2 , july 13th - 18th, with Michele Assaf, Jared Grimes, Patrizia Muzzupappa, Bruno Collinet, Terry Beeman , Clarissa Mucci , Mandy Moore.
Week 3 , july 20th - 25th, with Michele Assaf, Patrizia Muzzupappa, Desmond Richardson, Mandy Moore , H. Young Woo, Sabatino D’Eustacchio / Federica Angelozzi, Michele Oliva .
Week 4, july 27th - august 1th, with Michele Assaf, Patrizia Muzzupappa, Desmond Richardson, Akira Hino, Sabatino D’Eustacchio / Federica Angelozzi & friends, Francesca Cecchini, Joshua Pelatzky , Wes Veldink.

Monday 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th of July
Meeting with the teachers at the Open Dance Studio, from 10.45 p.m.
the dancers and observer will have the opportunity to know teachers and assistants better, meeting enriched by very interesting videos about the professional activities of the teachers.

Friday 11th, 18th, 25th of July and 1st of August
Final Students Performance and International Dance Gala - Theatre La Pace h. 10.30 p.m. All dancers will take part on the performance, choreographed by the teachers, followed by the Gala, where dance schools, or groups and international guests will dance.
On order to take part on the Gala, the schools, groups and solo dancers must send a video-DVD to the workshop reception within 30th of June 2008, the choreographies should not last more than 3 minutes for groups and 1 and a half minute for solo dancers. The admitted groups, schools and solo dancers will be informed by phone some days before their arrival. At the end of the Gala, there will be the Ceremony for the awarding of scholarships and afterwards we will all go to the pool meeting place for the Final party

Certificates of Participation - Auditions and castings
All dancers will receive Certificates of Participation, issued by the teachers during the week. Each teacher will give Scholarships for BROADWAY A TROPEA 2009, for “Broadway Dance Center of New York” and International Dance Academies. During the weeks, there will be Auditions and Castings for Dance groups and professional Productions.

And...
Every Saturday, day of arrival and departure, you can get a boat trip to admire the beauty and the enchanting rocks of Tropea and Capo Vaticano ,or a tour around the famous Eolian Islands. And furthermore during the week, Live Music... Dance Fashion Show…Videos and photos... and many nice surprises!!!
